Tips for searching
- Describe it in plain words — no keywords needed, e.g. “just diagnosed with bipolar and feeling overwhelmed”.
- Add a place for local help — a town, city or postcode, e.g. “…in Bromley”, “BS1”.
- Say who it’s for — e.g. “a teenager”, “my elderly mum”.
- Be specific about the need — “school refusal” finds more than “help”.
- One thing at a time — search a single situation for clearer results.
- Expect a mix — you’ll see nearby charities and trusted national ones; both can help.
- Not quite right? Reword it — small changes in phrasing can surface better matches.
- Want every charity in one area? — Ask ranks the closest matches, not a full list; use Classic search with the area filter for that.
